Alice Cooper
Sonisphere’s artist pages are written by real fans for real fans. Thanks to James White for this one…
Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier, February 4, 1948) has been putting on pioneering, jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, air-punching, horn-throwing gigs since the mid-60s – yes, that’s four decades of groin grippingly good shock-rock. If there is something to be done on the stage, Cooper has done it.
With a backlog of influences such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Yardbirds, it would be nothing less than down right idiocy to claim that Alice Cooper is a man who doesn’t know what he’s doing or isn’t worth your pinkie and forefinger pointing to the heavens. With a string of hits including I’m Eighteen, Poison, Schools Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy, and many more, this show is guaranteed to be one of Sonisphere’s most memorable, and for a long time.
As well as Anthrax (who covered Cooper’s first hit ‘I’m Eighteen’), famous fans include Rob Zombie, Bob Dylan, Ozzy Osbourne, The Flaming Lips, Dave Mustaine, Dio, Slash, Bruce Dickinson, John Lydon, Thor and even artist Salvador Dali.
Must-have Album: Billion Dollar Babies [1973, Warner Bros.]
